Company

About Taxably.

Taxably is a tax technology company that helps independent CPAs and small tax firms turn every document a client sends in into a single bookmarked PDF prep sheet per client per tax year. The software runs on the firm's own Windows workstation, and each document's pages go from there straight to the reading provider named on our subprocessor list, which is not permitted to train on them. Our servers are not on that path, and what we keep on them carries no taxpayer names, addresses or tax ID numbers.

Why this company exists

Every tax season starts the same way: clients send documents however they send them, into whatever folder catches them, and someone at the firm spends weeks turning that pile into something a preparer can work from. The industry's answer has mostly been to move the pile into a vendor's cloud and charge by the return. We thought both halves of that answer were wrong.

So Taxably is built the other way around. The watching and sorting happen where the documents already live, on the firm's workstation. A document's pages cross the network only to be read, by a provider that is not permitted to train on them, and what our servers keep carries no taxpayer names: placeholders, form types, section assignments. And the price is published on a public page: the first 10 clients are free, then $10 per return plus $5 a month for the firm, with no page charges at any volume. A firm can work out what a season costs before it starts one, which is not true of a bill that moves with how much paper a client happens to send.

Taxably was founded in 2026 by Sameer Shah, is incorporated as Taxably, Inc. in the United States, and is privately held. Any firm can sign up, and the product is built hands-on with the firms using it.

What we hold ourselves to

The pile, not the return

Tax software is crowded and good. The weeks firms lose are earlier, in intake: figuring out what clients sent, what it means, and what is still missing. We work on that and stop there, on purpose. Taxably does not enter data, prepare returns, or e-file.

Identities stay home

Names and addresses are replaced with placeholders before any record is written to our storage, and SSNs are never retained. Documents stay on the firm's own workstation, and their pages are read by a provider that is not permitted to train on them; what we keep carries no taxpayer names, addresses or tax ID numbers. The map back to a real person lives only on the firm's own workstation.

Nothing new to learn

No client portal, no questionnaire, no upload step. Taxably Connect watches the folders a firm already uses, and clients keep sending documents exactly the way they always have.

Honest claims, published prices

Pricing is published in full: the first 10 clients are free, then $10 per return plus $5 a month for the firm, with no seats, no tiers and no page charges. Compliance status is published on our Trust Center as it actually stands: we have not engaged an independent auditor and hold no SOC 2 report, and we say so rather than claim one.

Who is building it

Sameer Shah portrait

Sameer Shah

Founder

An Enrolled Agent who runs his own small tax practice and has worked tax seasons inside a local CPA firm. Those seasons showed him how much of a preparer's time goes to sorting what clients send before anyone starts a return, and Taxably exists to take that work off the desk. He builds Taxably full time, with the advisors below.

Sameer is accompanied by a bench of advisors with decades of experience behind them, who pressure-test the product, the privacy posture, and the plan.

Nirav Merchant

Lead advisor, data architecture

Director of the Data Science Institute at the University of Arizona and a technology strategist with 30+ years of experience building and operating large-scale, open-source cyberinfrastructure for scientific research, including serving as principal investigator for NSF CyVerse. Guides Taxably's data architecture.

Alan Davis

Advisor, tax practice

An Enrolled Agent in Oregon at a well-established CPA firm serving 800+ clients a year, with a practice philosophy built on high-touch, collaborative advisory relationships. Advises on the realities of intake and review inside a working firm.

A Texas-based serial entrepreneur, technology executive, and investor with 20+ years in business development and tech sales, and co-founder of the sports-analytics startup SharpsAI. Advises on go-to-market and business development.
